Australia has a very mobile population, with nearly 40 per cent of people changing address every five years. This quick guide highlights the current trends in internal migration, social and economic motivations for moving, as well as the characteristics of people who move. This paper is part of a broader suite of research that the Centre for Population is currently undertaking on internal migration.
